The environmental benefits of eliminating the use of hazardous and polluting chemicals are obvious. In addition, our contributions to a better environment by deploying environmentally friendly technologies, are complemented by the hidden benefits of replacing existing chemical based systems:
Reduction of energy consumption
Required to maintain satisfactory water disinfection levels
Enormous amounts of energy are used to manufacture and transport the chemicals used today. As an example, an Olympic size swimming pool can easily use hundreds of kilograms of chlorine and other chemicals per month.
If we factor in the manufacturing and transport of these substances, we can see that - aside from the cost and the side effects of these chemicals - there are huge amounts of "hidden" energy required to run a pool in this manner. We say "hidden" because normally these energy costs are not taken into account. However, for a complete and fair assessment one needs to look at it. By eliminating the need for chemicals with our systems, the "hidden" energy component including its associated greenhouse emissions is eliminated.
Reduction of greenhouse emissions from ozone depleting chemicals
Many of the chemicals used today are actually ozone depleting chemicals and can be considered greenhouse emissions.
Water savings
CT (reduces blowdown frequency) and ornamental water features
Depending on the cycles of concentration, cooling towers go through the so called "blowdown" where huge amounts of water are purged and fresh water is refilled. As the main reason for the blowdown is the TDS (total dissolved solids) resulting from usage of chemicals, our AccuIon™ technology can reduce the blowdown frequency dramatically, hence saving precious water.
Many ornamental water features today use the water only once as it goes straight into the sewer. With our Iodiser™ technology, these systems can be converted into recirculation systems where the water will be recycled (as in a swimming pool).Again, enormous amounts of water can be saved in this way.
